My doctor wanted to start me on metformin as my a1c had crept up to 7.2. I did NOT want to start on big pharma drugs. With small lifestyle food adjustments (I still have chips and ice cream and pizza), lots more movement (not 'work out' exercise - parking in the furthest spot from the door, taking the stairs, 10 min movement -sweep the floor/a short walk - after eating - increasing my steps to 10,000-15,000 from 3,000-5,000) and BERBERINE 2/3 times a day I have reduced my a1c to 6.7 in 5 months.
